"The LAX Coastal Area Chamber’s Leadership Academy is a vital resource for developing the leadership of our community. If you are a stakeholder looking to become more involved, this program will provide a depth of knowledge and insight into key issues that affect our area. Cultivating leadership is essential to every thriving community!"
Leadership Academy is a course designed to develop leadership qualities and encourage individuals to take more active roles in the community at-large. The Academy consists of eight one-day courses intended to familiarize business leaders with information regarding the history/land use of the area, and, more specifically, the inner workings of LAX, Marina Harbor, and Los Angeles City/County Government. The program provides participants the opportunity to meet and interact with political leaders at the federal, state and local levels.
The course curriculum includes information on economic development, non-profit board procedure and management, communication styles and tactics, government policy and procedure and civic involvement. Successful graduates of the Academy program receive four semester units of Professional Development Credit from Loyola Marymount University’s Continuing Education Department, as well as a certificate in Leadership Training & Development from LMU Extension. Through your involvement in Leadership Academy, you will not only acquire insight into the LAX coastal community, but you will also gain important contacts and build networks that may be beneficial to you and your company today and down the road.
Leadership academy launches in November of each year and graduation takes place in June. For more information on the LAX Coastal Area Chamber's Leadership Academy course, please call 310.645.5151.
